On Friday, a major power outage affected approximately 2.3 million people in southeastern Mexico, especially in the tourist city of Cancun.

The incident was caused by a malfunction on an interconnection line between the networks, and the service was restored to 50% after four hours. The traffic lights failed, causing congestion on the roads, with only stores with generators being able to operate. However, the water supply and hospitals were not affected, according to official statements.
