A police officer from Bucharest was sentenced to two years and five months of suspended prison for bribery, after he concluded a plea agreement with the prosecutors, confirmed by the court. Between October 2023 and May 2025, he accepted sums of money from detainees to bring them prohibited goods, such as alcohol, mobile phones, SIM cards, and GPS devices, and to facilitate their access to areas not covered by the law. The conviction was the result of investigations conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Directorate, which documented the illegal activities of the officer within a detention and preventive arrest center in the Capital.
