PNL Senator Lucian Rusu stated that the increase in subway fares is not a viable solution, emphasizing that people cannot be asked to pay more without being offered improved services. Rusu criticized Metrorex's proposal to raise the price of a ticket to 7 lei and the monthly subscription to 140 lei, stating that this will affect hundreds of thousands of Bucharest residents. He requested the Ministry of Transport to present a concrete reform plan for Metrorex, instead of the easy solution of raising fares. The senator mentioned that, in the last ten months, no restructuring plan for the companies under the ministry's authority has been presented. Metrorex intends to implement these fare increases starting May 1, with an increase of over 40% depending on the type of subscription chosen.
