Robert Sighiartău, PNL deputy, announced that Ciprian Ciucu is free to run for the position of first vice-president of PNL, emphasizing that the party's statute allows this only in the case of a conviction in the first instance.
Sighiartău commented on the decision of the Ilfov Tribunal, which suspended the resolutions from the National Political Bureau of PNL from June 15, regarding the sanctioning of parliamentarians who would vote for the investiture of the Veștea Government. He also mentioned that Adrian Veștea can run for the presidency of PNL. The Tribunal ruled in favor of a group of 16 parliamentarians who contested the decisions of the BPN, and PNL announced that it would appeal this ruling. The extraordinary congress of PNL is convened for Sunday, in the context in which the designated prime minister, Adrian Veștea, intends to run against Ilie Bolojan for the position of president. Ciprian Ciucu, first vice-president of PNL, is under judicial control for corruption charges.
