PNL MEP Virgil Popescu stated on Tuesday that the European Parliament voted to grant 14.34 million euros to Romania as support following the severe floods of 2025. The funds come from the European Union Solidarity Fund (EUSF) and are intended for the restoration of infrastructure and support for affected communities.

Popescu emphasized the importance of European solidarity, stating that it translates into concrete support in critical moments. In May and June 2025, Romania was hit by floods caused by heavy rainfall, which caused significant damage in several regions, including Salina Praid, where critical infrastructure was affected, resulting in widespread power outages. This financial aid will contribute to the rapid recovery of the affected communities.
