Ploiești is facing a major problem, considering that the 20 trolleybuses have been taken out of circulation due to the lack of periodic technical inspection (ITP). The transport authority has acknowledged that the vehicles have never had ITP, believing that, being electrically powered, they do not require this check. Now, the trolleybuses must be transported on a platform to Bucharest for inspection, which involves significant costs.
Drivers have been stopped by police, and passengers, although not in danger, are complaining about the inconveniences caused. Representatives of the Romanian Auto Registry emphasize that visual checks are not sufficient, and the transport authority is considering establishing its own ITP station to resolve the issue. The mayor of Ploiești mentioned that transporting the trolleybuses to Bucharest would generate huge costs.
