According to the court portal, the Court of Appeal rejected the appeal filed by Cristian Popescu Piedone, former president of ANPC, against the decision of the Brașov Tribunal, pronounced in a preliminary chamber. The court upheld the legality of the evidence administered by the prosecutors, thus allowing the trial on the merits to begin. Piedone was ordered to pay court costs.

The case was sent to trial by the National Anti-Corruption Directorate in October 2025, and prosecutors claim that, on March 7, 2025, Piedone allegedly disclosed confidential information about a scheduled inspection at the International Hotel in Sinaia, owned by the family of former politician Dan Radu Rușanu. The investigation includes interceptions in which Piedone gives instructions to hotel employees to prepare the premises before the inspection, requesting, among other things, that the staff wear gowns and caps and that the visit of the inspection team be directed to certain areas of the hotel.
