AUR Senate leader Petrișor Peiu criticized Romania’s foreign policy in a message posted on Facebook on Saturday, accusing the authorities of lacking a coherent strategy, state representatives of having a “servile” attitude, and contracts of being awarded without a tender. The senator argues that these practices cannot conceal the country’s domestic problems and failures to achieve objectives such as inclusion in the Visa Waiver Program and accession to the OECD.
In his message, Petrișor Peiu mentioned Sorin Grindeanu, Ilie Bolojan, Marcel Ciolacu and Klaus Iohannis. He criticized political leaders’ participation in society events and accused successive governments of incompetence, corruption and a lack of vision in administration and infrastructure.
The AUR senator referred to the Bechtel contract and other projects that he claims were awarded preferentially, including contracts in the energy and nuclear sectors. He said Romania needs career diplomats, clear strategies and representatives capable of defending national interests in foreign relations.
Petrișor Peiu’s statements represent the political position of the AUR Senate leader.
