The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Țoiu, stated that Romania chose in 2022 to be on the right side of history by supporting Ukraine, emphasizing that its sovereignty is essential for freedom in Europe. She underscores that a peace imposed by force is not a sustainable solution, but merely a temporary pause in the face of aggression. Țoiu acknowledges the human desire for a quick peace, but warns that those who support Russia's conditions only contribute to the impunity of an aggressor.

Romania, having the longest border with the conflict, has demonstrated solidarity by receiving Ukrainian refugees. 'In those first days of Russia's aggression, Romanians were good neighbors, with open doors for hundreds of thousands of people fleeing the war. It was not about official protocols and bilateral treaties, but about thousands of Romanians who opened their homes, offered a warm tea and a hug to fellow beings who, frightened, were looking for a way out of the horrors. We then showed the most beautiful face of our humanity, which is unconditional solidarity, because history has taught us what longing looks like in the face of those who will not return,' said Oana Țoiu.

In her message, the minister recalled participating in the inauguration of a facility at NATO headquarters, symbolizing freedom and reminding of the sufferings caused by war.

In conclusion, she emphasizes that Romania will continue to stand by Ukraine in its fight for freedom.
