On May 15, 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Ţoiu, represented Romania at the ministerial meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, held in Chișinău, alongside counterparts from the 45 member states. Together with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi, she co-chaired a round table dedicated to combating foreign interference and protecting democratic processes.
Ţoiu emphasized the escalation of informational manipulation, highlighting the impact of new technologies and artificial intelligence on disinformation, which affects both countries by merging informational spaces. Romania also notified its intention to join the Agreement on the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine, aiming to hold Russia accountable. At the end of the meeting, the ministers adopted the Chișinău Declaration and important decisions regarding migration and cooperation with the European Union.
