Oana Zoiu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, expressed condolences to the families of the victims of the massive attack launched by Russia against Ukraine the previous night, which primarily targeted Kyiv.
Following a phone conversation with her Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha, she learned about the devastating impact of the attack, which resulted in the deaths of several civilians and members of the emergency response teams, as well as the injury of 25 people, including two children. The attack caused significant damage to cultural and heritage sites, including residential buildings and religious sites protected by UNESCO.
Zoiu criticized Russia for the brutality of its actions, emphasizing that they contradict the traditional values that Moscow claims to defend. Additionally, she discussed with Sybiha the preparation of the 21st package of European Union sanctions against Russia, highlighting the need to strengthen sanctions in the face of escalating Russian attacks and security incidents in member states, including Romania.
