The police in Târgu Jiu has opened an investigation following the death of a nurse.

A 31-year-old nurse, who worked in the Intensive Care Unit of the Târgu Jiu County Emergency Hospital, was found hanged in her own home. The alarm was raised on Monday at 11:40 by the woman's father, who called 112 after discovering her.

Police and an ambulance crew intervened at the scene, but the doctors were unable to resuscitate her. Initial information indicates that no signs of violence were found on the woman's body, and the lifeless body was transported to the Gorj Forensic Medicine Service for an autopsy. The woman was divorced and had a 7-year-old daughter, for whom she had recently obtained custody. The police have opened a criminal case for manslaughter and continue investigations to determine the circumstances of the tragedy.
