Diana Buzoianu said that Romania has invested significantly in counting bears, with a preliminary estimate of between 10,000 and 12,000. This figure will influence the large carnivore management plan, which will address both biodiversity protection and community safety. An amendment to the new Forestry Code will also increase fines for feeding bears, proposing between 3,000 and 6,000 lei to discourage the practice.
