Nicușor Dan stated that the authorities do not have the capacity to intervene regarding the excise duties included in the price of fuel, whether up or down. He explained that currently, half of the price of gasoline is represented by the gross cost of refined oil, while the other half consists of taxes and excises.

He also mentioned that although the Competition Council is monitoring the situation, the measures will not be immediate. Nicușor Dan emphasized that sanctions for anti-competitive practices are applied with delay, but he appreciated that the president of the Competition Council is attentive to this phenomenon, considering its impact on the economy.

In the event that prices continue to rise, he mentioned that he could discuss with the Government about a support scheme for the population.
