The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, announced on Wednesday the acceptance of the proposals from the Minister of Justice for the leadership of the prosecutor's offices, thus establishing new leaders in the judicial system. Cristina Chiriac will hold the position of Attorney General of the Prosecutor's Office next to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, while Ioan-Viorel Cerbu will be the Chief Prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Directorate.
Codrin-Horațiu Miron has been appointed head of DIICOT, and all these appointments will come into effect on April 15. However, Nicușor Dan refused to appoint Gill-Julien Grigore-Iacobici as Deputy Chief Prosecutor of DIICOT. The other proposals were accepted, including the appointments of Marius Voineag as Deputy Attorney General and Marinela Mincă as Deputy Chief Prosecutor of DNA. These changes come in the context of efforts to strengthen the Romanian judicial system.
