China Labor Watch (CLW) conducted an investigation into the Shunjia Toys factory, which produces LaBubu toys, accusing the systematic exploitation of employees. Following a three-month monitoring period, the NGO discovered that workers far exceed the legal limits for overtime, frequently working over 100 hours a month to meet increased demand. Additionally, young people aged between 16 and 18 were employed without special protections, subjected to the same production standards as adults, without fully understanding the signed contracts. CLW highlighted the lack of transparency in the signing of contracts, with workers having only a few minutes to complete their personal information. The company Pop Mart, which collaborates with the factory, stated that it is investigating these allegations and takes the welfare of workers seriously. The NGO calls for corrective measures and grievance mechanisms for employees, highlighting structural issues in the manufacturing industry in China.
