The Border Police informs that minors traveling abroad must hold a passport or an identity document accepted by the destination country, regardless of whether they are heading to a country within the Schengen area or not.

The birth certificate is not considered a travel document. In the case where the child is traveling with only one parent, the consent declaration of the other parent, authenticated by a notary, is required, which can be valid for up to three years. Exceptions exist in the case of the death of the other parent or court rulings. If the minor is traveling with another person, additional documents are required, including the parents' declaration and the criminal record extract of the accompanying person. Minors aged 16 can travel alone with parental consent, and those who have residence in the destination country can travel unaccompanied. The police recommend checking the validity of travel documents to avoid issues at the border.
