The Ministry of National Defence detected an aerial target near the border with Romania / The population in northern Tulcea received an RO-Alert message

The radar system of the Ministry of National Defence detected, during the night of September 25 to 26, an aerial target moving near the town of Vâlkove, on the territory of Ukraine, near the border with Romania.

The National Military Command Center notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, and the authorities ordered the alerting of the population in the north of Tulcea County. At 00:15, residents in the area received a RO-Alert message.

To monitor the situation, two F-18 aircraft of the Spanish Air and Space Force were scrambled. The aircraft were stationed at Mihail Kogălniceanu 57th Air Base as part of Enhanced Air Policing missions.

The air alert ended at 01:30. According to the Ministry of National Defence, no incursions by the target into national airspace were reported.

The incident comes as Romanian military radars have detected several aerial targets near the border in recent times. On September 25, another target was identified approximately 20 kilometers east of Galați.
