The Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Vasile Tofan, stated that the unification with Romania cannot be framed within a "Plan B" and should not be seen as an alternative to European integration. The topic of unification with Romania should be analyzed through the lens of the will of the citizens and a possible democratic process, according to him.

Vasile Tofan emphasized that the priority of the Government of Moldova is to join the European Union by the end of 2028, considering that this objective is the country's "Plan A."

Additionally, the Prime Minister avoided giving a personal opinion on unification, stressing that it is essential to listen to the will of the citizens from both countries.

These statements were made in the context of his first official visit to Bucharest, scheduled for July 30. Tofan will meet with his Romanian counterpart, Ilie Bolojan, and with President Nicușor Dan during his visit.
