The border police in Iași detained a citizen from Moldova with two bags of mushrooms containing muscimol, a controlled substance.

Border police from the Territorial Inspectorate of the Border Police Iași, under the coordination of DIICOT Vaslui prosecutors, caught a citizen from Moldova, aged 53, who was trying to smuggle drugs out of the country.

He was detected on July 13, 2026, at the Albița border crossing, having two bags of mushrooms containing muscimol in his car. The defendant entered Romania in July 2026, carrying drugs, which he later attempted to smuggle out of the country. Prosecutors ordered his detention for the introduction or export of drugs without authorization, in a continuous form.

On Tuesday, the Vaslui Tribunal was notified with the proposal for the preventive arrest of the defendant for 30 days.
