Metrorex reported losses of 312 million lei in 2025. Transport revenues increased, but the number of passengers was 13% lower than estimates.

Metrorex ended the year 2025 with a turnover of 1.263 billion lei and losses of 312 million lei, a significant increase compared to the losses of 181 million lei in 2014.

The losses are split between operating activities (203.4 million lei) and investment activities (108.6 million lei). Total revenues were 2.341 billion lei, down 26.96% compared to 2024, while total expenses were 2.653 billion lei. The number of passengers was 153.3 million, 13% lower than estimates, which contributed to the losses. Personnel expenses were 1.032 billion lei, and the subsidy allocated for passenger transport was 873 million lei, covering only 43.64% of expenses.
