The Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, announced that he will propose to the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest (CGMB) an increase in the STB ticket price from 3 to 5 lei, following the reorganization process of the Bucharest Transport Company (STB).
The announcement was made during the CGMB meeting, where the inclusion of up to 12 severance salaries for collective layoffs was approved. Ciucu emphasized that the ticket price increase will not be discussed until the STB management demonstrates the willingness to optimize its costs. The reorganization plan provides for the layoff of 700-800 employees, aiming to save between 7 and 8 million lei per month.
Other measures include reducing management positions and activities for most employees, except for essential staff. Additionally, measures are proposed to increase STB revenues, including a higher pricing policy. These measures are part of a streamlining plan in the context of the company's financial difficulties.
