The General Mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, will have a meeting today with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare to discuss the precarious financial situation of the Bucharest Municipality (PMB). Ciucu has conducted an analysis of the budget, concluding that it is heavily unbalanced, with over 53% of expenses allocated to public transport and heating. Adding social payments and historical debts, the percentage exceeds 60%. The municipality is facing current debts of over 500 million lei for transport subsidies and 800 million lei for heating, as well as arrears in social payments. For next year, the mayor estimates that PMB would need at least 8.5 billion lei for operations and debt payments, not including investments.
