Mayor Băluță renounces the name "Donald J. Trump" for the expansion of Tudor Arghezi Park

The Mayor of Sector 4, Daniel Băluță, announced that the extension of Tudor Arghezi Park will no longer bear the name "Donald J. Trump", after the initial proposal sparked controversy among citizens.

Băluță stated that starting Tuesday, an online platform will be available for residents to vote on the name of the park and the Berceni Arena ice rink. The decision to organize a vote was made after mixed reactions from the community, with some supporting the idea and others expressing their dissatisfaction.

At the beginning of April, the mayor justified the choice of name by referencing the historical ties between Romania and the USA, considering the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The expansion works of the park, which will add 4 hectares of green space, are currently underway and are expected to be completed this year.
