On Wednesday, in Victory Square, approximately 4,000 teachers, students, and pupils protested against the austerity measures affecting the education system in Romania. Teachers' unions warned that, in the absence of dialogue and acceptance of their demands, they would initiate a general strike. The majority of teachers, according to a referendum, support this form of protest.

The protesters criticized government measures that affect salaries and working conditions, demanding the repeal of the "Bolojan Law" and a return to the teaching norm of 18 hours. Students requested an increase in the scholarship fund and the reintroduction of a 90% discount for rail transport. Additionally, union members highlighted the risks of school closures, which could lead to the loss of over 2,000 positions. The protest was marked by chants and visible messages on banners, highlighting the deep discontent in education.
