A man from Suceava was sentenced to two years in prison for killing his dog, a three-year-old female husky, hit with a hammer.

The judges in Suceava sentenced a 50-year-old man from the village of Nisipitu to two years in prison for the brutal killing of his dog, a three-year-old female husky. The incident occurred in December 2023, when the man struck the animal in the head with a rabbit, a tool used for handling logs, after which he hid the corpse in a bag, behind the house.

The Patrocle's House - Animal Rescue Association highlighted the suffering of the dog, which, at the time of the attack, trusted its owner. The man was initially detained for 24 hours, and the police investigation led to his conviction. The association thanked the authorities for delivering justice, emphasizing the importance of animal protection and the respect for the law. The man was transported to Botoșani Penitentiary to serve his sentence.
