A man from Florești is being investigated for torturing a rat, keeping it in a bucket of water for two days.

A man from the town of Florești is being investigated by authorities for torturing a rat, after shocking images were published on Facebook.

In the recording, the man shows a rat held in a bucket full of water, claiming that the animal has been swimming for over two days and that he intends to continue the "experiment" to see how long it can survive.

He also mentions that another rat may have already drowned in the same bucket. After the images were made public, the police took notice and managed to identify the man. He is now being investigated for committing the crime of animal torture, according to Law no. 205/2004 on the protection of animals, and a criminal case has been opened against him at the Prosecutor's Office next to the Cluj-Napoca Court.

Authorities emphasize the importance of animal protection and condemn such acts of cruelty.
