Man dead after bear attack in Sibiu: Authorities call for urgent measures

According to ISU Sibiu, a SMURD crew intervened at the exit of the locality after a call to 112, where it was reported that a man was seriously injured. At the scene, the crew found that the victim, a man approximately 34 years old, had injuries incompatible with life, most likely caused by a bear attack.

Unfortunately, the man was declared dead. The police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. The mayor of Hoghilag commune, Nicolae Lazăr, emphasized that the authorities' interventions are insufficient and that there is no long-term strategy for managing the bear population.

He stated that the current number of bears exceeds the carrying capacity of the areas in which they live, calling for more effective measures to prevent such tragedies.
