The DNA prosecutors detained a man for influence peddling after he was caught red-handed receiving 12,500 euros from a witness, who is a defendant in a criminal case. The man had initially demanded the sum of 25,000 euros, leading the witness to believe that he had influence over an officer of the Bucharest Organized Crime Fighting Brigade.

His goal was to convince the officer to draw up a criminal case so that the witness could obtain a useful document in court for reducing the sentence. The sum of money was to be paid in two installments, and the detention took place on October 29. The man will be presented to the Bucharest Tribunal with a proposal for preventive arrest for 30 days.
