Lia Olguța Vasilescu, the mayor of Craiova and former Minister of Labor, stated that the implementation of the new salary law will bring significant losses to the Romanian state, estimating a financial impact of 174 billion lei annually, compared to 166 billion in the current form.
She argues that, following negotiations on the PNRR, serious errors were made, including the acceptance of unfavorable conditions for the state. Vasilescu emphasized that law 153/2017, which she designed, was considered the best by union leaders, but subsequent amendments led to confusion and dissatisfaction.
She criticized the current administration for not consulting ministries and unions in the reform process, which led to increased salary expenses and risks of social upheaval. Vasilescu highlighted that, despite attacks against the PSD, it is essential that the interests of citizens are prioritized over political propaganda.
