Laurențiu Beșu, former judge and protagonist of the documentary 'Captured Justice', has been found guilty by the Judicial Inspection for violating the secrecy of deliberation, after he publicly recounted his removal from the corruption case of Niculae Bădălău, a former member of the Court of Accounts.
The Inspection admitted the notification from the head of the Bucharest Court of Appeal, Liana Arsenie, and forwarded the case to the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) for a possible sanction.
Moreover, the prosecutor posted on his Facebook page the resolution of the Judicial Inspection:
“In the press material entitled 'Captured Justice' published on December 9, 2025, on the Recorder.ro website, Mr. Judge Beșu Ionel Laurențiu provided data and information that disclosed both the content of the deliberations and the opinions of the members of the panel of judges of which he was a part.”
Beșu argued that his statements were based on public facts, but the Inspection considered that he disclosed confidential information.
The Bădălău case, registered in 2022, was delayed due to changes in judges, and Beșu emphasized that these practices can lead to the expiration of cases. The disciplinary decision will be made by the CSM, and the appeal will be resolved at the High Court.
