The Chamber of Deputies adopted on Wednesday a legislative project that provides for harsher penalties for organizing private parties with loud music near residential areas. The project, initiated by independent deputy Cosmin-Marian Poteraș, amends Law 61/1991 regarding social coexistence norms and establishes that the use of musical equipment in tents or open spaces that disturbs the peace of residents constitutes an offense.
The new fines have been doubled, ranging between 500 and 6,000 lei, compared to the previous level. The project was adopted by the Senate on February 5, 2024, and received the decisive vote of the Chamber of Deputies, and will be sent for promulgation. This measure aims to improve public order and peace in residential areas.
