Bogdan Ivan, former Minister of Energy, stated that the dismissed Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan is endangering Romania's energy partnership with the United States, after he labeled the modular reactors project at Doicești as "wasted money".
He emphasized the importance of the project, which could bring significant revenues and allow Romania to become a key player in the European gas market. Ivan accused the attacks on this project as part of a pro-Moscow rhetoric and warned that Bolojan's criticisms could erode relations with the USA. He also mentioned that Romania needs a coherent strategy for natural gas supply and called for a government mandate to advance in this regard.
