Iulian Fota, former presidential advisor on national security issues, raised an alarm about the critical state of the Romanian defense industry, mentioning the corruption and greed that dominate the sector. In an interview, he emphasized that without a clear intervention from the highest level, Romania will not succeed in modernizing the industry or effectively utilizing the available European funds.

Fota highlighted the risks of diverting funds, mentioning a recent situation related to a bribery offer in the sector. He also criticized the large number of state-owned companies, suggesting that privatization could reduce corruption and improve efficiency.
