The interim Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, Irineu Darău, stated that public administration risks turning digitalization into a simple digital bureaucracy if the introduction of artificial intelligence is not accompanied by structural reforms and the training of public servants.

He acknowledged the existing problems in digitalization structures and emphasized the need for rapid internal digitalization within the ministry. Darău warned that simply implementing digital tools will not solve the fundamental problems of administration without a reconceptualization of roles and ongoing education for officials. He proposed the creation of a clear strategy and a task force for the digital transformation of administration. He also discussed the difficulties faced by entrepreneurs and startups in Romania, highlighting that bureaucracy particularly affects small companies, which lack the necessary resources to cope with regulations.
