Police in Maramureș have opened an investigation for fraud after 44 students and four teachers from Dorohoi, Botoșani County, reported that the accommodation unit for a camp, for which they paid nearly 60,000 lei in advance, was under construction.

The report was filed on Monday at the Baia Mare municipal police by a teacher. According to initial checks, the camp organizer, the manager of an accommodation unit in the Izvoare resort, misled the group by offering conditions that did not match reality. Upon arrival, the tourists found that the unit was under construction, making it impossible to honor the promised services.

The police have opened a criminal case and recommend that travelers choose authorized accommodation units, check their legality, and avoid making full advance payments to individuals or unknown accounts.
