The Environmental Guard is investigating the killing of a bear in a traffic accident in Buzău

The commissioners of the National Environmental Guard (GNM) - Buzău County Commissariat, together with representatives of the County Police Inspectorate (IPJ), have launched an investigation after the accidental killing of a bear was reported. The incident occurred on January 18, 2026, when a vehicle struck and injured a bear on DJ 102B, near the village of Gura Bâscei, Cislău commune.

The Cislău Town Hall informed the GNM about the event, and a team of commissioners identified the bear's carcass at the scene. The police confirmed that, following the accident, there were no human casualties, and the driver, a 25-year-old young man from Calvini, was involved in the incident. The investigation continues to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
