The Botoșani County Council announced a remarkable archaeological discovery in the area of the town of Darabani, where an impressive treasure was found. This includes 574 silver coins, 6 Dacian bracelets, 2 rings, 1 buckle, 1 fibula, and 1 bronze pendant, dating from the 1st century BC to the 3rd century AD.

The discovery was made by a former border police officer, passionate about archaeology, with the help of a metal detector. The pieces were handed over to the local authorities and subsequently to the Botoșani County Directorate for Culture (DJC). The director of DJC, Dănuț Huțu, explained that the treasure will be evaluated and classified based on its value. The director of the County Museum, Aurel Melniciuc, emphasized the importance of the treasure, mentioning that four of the bracelets found are Dacian and that the pieces will be subjected to expertise by specialists from the National Museum of Romanian History. The County Museum will also conduct an archaeological survey in the area of the discovery.
