Ilie Bolojan, the Prime Minister of Romania, stated that the value-added tax (VAT) will not increase, emphasizing the importance of maintaining budgetary balances.

He explained that managing the annual deficit of 30 billion euros requires a balance between revenues and expenditures, which involves both revenue increases and expenditure reductions.

Bolojan cited the Transport sector as an example, where contracts worth 19.5 billion euros have been signed under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), nearly four times the available funds.

He highlighted the need for reform in local and central public administration, including staff reductions, to avoid a situation of insolvency.

The Prime Minister warned that without these measures, debts and fixed expenditures will create future problems, regardless of who is in power.
