The Ilfov County Emergency Committee ordered inspections and monitoring in Sintești following the illegal transport and burning of waste

On Monday, September 28, 2026, the Ilfov County Committee for Emergency Situations ordered several measures in the Sintești area of Vidra commune after cases of illegal waste transport and disposal, including through burning, were reported. The decision was made during an extraordinary meeting held at the headquarters of the Ilfov Prefecture, amid a request by interim Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu to declare a state of alert.

The Ilfov County Committee for Emergency Situations adopted Decision No. 9/28.09.2026 and decided to establish a working group coordinated by the Prefect’s Institution. The measures include checking how waste is managed and stored, inspecting transport routes and accompanying documents, as well as verifying activities that could cause fires or environmental pollution.

The authorities will also assess the situation’s impact on public health, step up prevention efforts, and monitor areas where repeated fires or uncontrolled burning occur. The meeting was attended by Ilfov County Prefect Simona Neculae, Bucharest Prefect Andrei Nistor, and interim Environment, Waters and Forests Minister Diana Buzoianu.

The Ilfov Prefecture stated that a state of alert cannot be declared automatically and that such a measure must be based on objective data, an analysis of risk factors, and the procedure established by law. The institution will monitor developments in Sintești, while any additional measures will be considered later, depending on the results of the inspections.
