The study conducted by the publication Átlátszó Erdély highlights the fact that, although the Hungarian government has invested heavily in Transylvania, most of the funds are directed towards elite institutions, religious organizations, and politically affiliated media groups, while rural communities receive limited resources. From 2011 to 2021, Hungary spent nearly 2.9 billion euros to support Hungarian businesses abroad, peaking in 2020. The report emphasizes the lack of transparency in the distribution of these funds and highlights the geographical concentration of support, with most reaching Cluj-Napoca.
