The Hungarian company Salt-Veres Zrt. has obtained the concession for a salt mine in Valea Florilor, Cluj, with an estimated capacity of 800,000 tons per year. The application process started in 2009 and the mine can operate for 20 years with the possibility of extension. The project will use modern and environmentally-friendly technologies with a minimal environmental footprint. Romania's demand for salt is around 1.5 million tons, and the mine could cover a large part of this need, with various applications in industry.
