On Saturday, December 27, a C-27J Spartan aircraft of the Romanian Air Force took off from the 90th Air Transport Base in Otopeni, at the request of the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU), to transport two patients with severe burns to a hospital in Brussels, Belgium. The flight included a stop in Bacău, where the patients were picked up, with takeoff occurring around 5:30 PM.
The mission was carried out under special conditions specific to aeromedical transport, and the patients were monitored by a medical team made up of personnel from the Romanian Air Force and doctors from the Bucharest Emergency Clinical Hospital, thus ensuring continuous medical assistance. C-27J Spartan aircraft are frequently used in humanitarian missions and international medical evacuations, supporting patients who require specialized treatments abroad.
