The Ministry of National Defense announced that the C-27J Spartan aircraft, configured for medical missions, took off on March 10 from the 90th Air Transport Base in Otopeni, heading to Brussels.

The humanitarian mission was organized at the request of the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU) and included the transport of two patients with severe burns and one relative. The patients will receive treatment in a specialized medical unit in Belgium, and medical assistance during the flight was provided by a team from the Bucharest Emergency Clinical Hospital, together with specialists from the Romanian Air Forces. These missions are carried out periodically to quickly transfer critically ill patients to hospitals in other European countries, considering that Romania has a limited number of places in specialized centers for severe burns. Military aircraft are equipped to ensure the safe transport of patients and to provide medical interventions during the flight.
