The state-owned company Hidroelectrica plans to install a battery storage system at the Iron Gates II hydropower plant with a capacity of 64 MW and 256 MWh. The project, estimated at 309.7 million lei, aims to provide balancing services to offset imbalances in the national power system caused by renewable sources. The contract includes all phases from design to commissioning, with a duration of about 2 years, and the award is planned for late fall 2025.
