The National Company Bucharest Airports (CNAB) has launched a comprehensive modernization process for Henri Coandă International Airport, announcing the completion of the tender for the replacement of the moving walkways, elevators, and escalators. The project includes the replacement of 19 elevators, 19 escalators, and four moving walkways, as well as the installation of two platforms for passengers with reduced mobility. Implementation will be done in phases over three years to minimize passenger discomfort. The tender was participated in by TK Elevator Eastern Europe GmbH, with a contract worth 24,390,592 lei. Additionally, CNAB received 12 bids for the modernization of Runway No. 1, a project estimated at 106 million euros, which will include the complete reconstruction of the runway and the modernization of the taxiways. The execution of the works is planned to last a maximum of 16 months, and the last modernization took place in 1994.
