Gynecologist Josef Kopp, convicted of sexual abuse against patients

The Bucharest Court of Appeal has decided the final conviction of gynecologist Josef Kopp to 9 years and 6 months in prison for sexual abuse of four patients. Although Kopp has claimed he is innocent, the courts have found that the evidence presented demonstrates his guilt. Between 2018 and 2022, Kopp was accused of raping patients in his office in Bucharest, taking advantage of their vulnerability.

As a result of the trial, he was ordered to pay moral damages of 15,000 euros to two of the victims. Kopp, born in Syria and with German citizenship, was placed in preventive detention and ended up in the Rahova Maximum Security Penitentiary after his conviction.
