The Chief of the General Staff of Defense declared that Romania is facing a critical security situation that will persist. In a press conference, he emphasized the importance of finding the necessary resources to manage this situation, considering the current preparations and equipment.

Although Romania is part of NATO, Vlad specified that we should not rely exclusively on the alliance for defense. He highlighted the capabilities for detecting and combating threats but mentioned that risks will continue to exist. In the context of the war in Ukraine, Vlad noted Russia's frustration, which, despite economic difficulties and human losses, will not abandon its initial objectives.

Regarding possible threats, he stated that Romania will not become a direct target of Russia, but acknowledged the risks of hybrid actions in cyberspace.
