George Simion, the president of AUR, announced on Wednesday evening that the parliamentarians of his party will vote on a budget that respects the deficit target of 6%. Simion launched a harsh attack on PSD, accusing the governing parties of irresponsibility and of having led Romania to an inflation rate of over 9%.
AUR proposes an alternative budget that ensures compliance with the laws, indexing pensions to the inflation rate, and support for vulnerable individuals. Simion emphasized that the current coalition is turning Romanians into beggars and promised that AUR will fight for the rights of pensioners and people with disabilities. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in the budget debate, which should have taken place in December 2025. The adoption of the 2026 budget is blocked in Parliament due to negotiations between political parties.
