George Mocanu has passed away, a man mentioned by Călin Georgescu in the prosecutors' transcripts: "Another great Romanian patriot has left this life"

George Mocanu, known as a close associate of Călin Georgescu, has died, according to a message posted by Georgescu on Facebook. He described Mocanu as a "great Romanian patriot" and emphasized that the fight for truth and dignity continues. Mocanu's death brings his name back into the spotlight, considering that he has been mentioned in the interceptions from Georgescu's case, who is being investigated for serious crimes, including incitement to actions against the constitutional order.

In transcripts, Georgescu recommends to Marian Motocu to get close to Mocanu, suggesting a network of influence around him. Mocanu returned to Romania from Canada in 2022 and was active in promoting national values through his NGO, the Patriotic Union. He also filed criminal complaints against some politicians for the annulment of elections. In an interview, Mocanu stated that he wanted a "clean" Romania and that he was drawn to Georgescu due to his coherence and experience.
